POPULATION, WOMEN AND CLIMATE CHANGE

My late colleague and friend, Dianne Proctor, was immersed in family planning and women’s rights through her latter career. Nevertheless, she took a holistic approach to global issues. Rudd Government commitments on greenhouse emissions are just gestures

Sadly, the Government’s announcements are just goodwill gestures, which cannot be achieved if Australia’s population grows as projected. This matters for the globe, because by 2005, per capita emission of greenhouse gases in Australia  were 28.9 tonnes, nearly three times the EU rate of 10.7 tonnes and many times greater than in India and China.

PART 4: OVERPOPULATION IN 21ST CENTURY AMERICA NOBODY EVER DIES OF OVERPOPULATION

Not mentioned, but increasing in numbers as the human race accelerates its own populations across the globe an astounding 18 million human beings starve to death or die of starvation related diseases every year. (Source: World Health Organization)  The breakdown: eight million adults and 10 million children perish at the hands of starvation annually.  Fully 1.5 to 2.0 billion humans subsist on less than $2.00 per day.  That same number cannot obtain a clean glass of drinking water.
