Imagine one of your neighbors taking all of her trash, including uneaten food, extra paint, batteries, unused meds, shoes, computer parts, old tires, CDs, and plastic bottles, and burning it all in an open pit in her backyard. Now imagine this fire burning all day every day, sending out continuous billows of black smoke. Would you feel safe? Would the air you breathe be healthy, or would it make you sick? The EPA would probably shut down your noxious neighbor in a matter of hours.
