Dr. Graeme Dennerstein on the topic
“The need for accessible family planning”
Dr. Graeme Dennerstein, a member of SPA for almost 10 years graduated in medicine in 1961 from the University of Melbourne, qualified as a specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist in 1968 and continues to work in this specialty. He has researched and published on many aspects of his specialty. His interest in family planning started shortly after he qualified as a specialist with his appointment as the foundation Director of Victoria’s second teaching hospital family planning clinic (Footscray Hospital). Other appointments included medical secretary of Family Planning Victoria. Graeme completed service in the Royal Australian Air Force Reserve Medical Branch as the Consultant Gynaecologist to the Director-General of Air Force Health Service. Holding a pilot licence has enabled him to provide a specialist outreach service for rural hospitals and work in aviation medicine.
Last year he donated his services as a pilot to SPA when he flew photographer Tanya Fry over Melbourne producing some spectacular images of Melbourne’s ever widening spread (images can be seen on the SPA website population.org.au).
Look forward to seeing you there!
