Professionally, I’m best described as a business generalist having worked across many areas of administration and in diverse sectors such as banking, defence, energy and more recently disability services. I studied economics and management as an undergraduate and later completed an MBA. I spent a number of years in the wholesale energy markets and corporate strategy during which time I came to realise that renewable energy projects, although well-intentioned, were never going to deliver their environmental benefits while their commissioning was well-outpaced by population growth. With a deep appreciation for the natural environment, I have also been dismayed at the destruction wrought by continued and rapid population growth.

I’ve been a passionate advocate for population awareness for nearly 40 years and well-understand the challenges that we face in building engagement on the issue locally and globally. It became clear to me early on that the mainstream political establishment, vested interests (including the media) and the ideologically biased were the major barriers to public awareness and acceptance of the issue. For this reason, I see a critical link between our strong academic credentials and our solid marketing and communications capabilities in bringing the message to the public and refuting the endless pro-growth propaganda that monopolises the discourse. The issue of human population growth is highly intersectional with touchpoints on the environment, human rights and animal welfare amongst others. Despite the ongoing resistance, I see huge opportunity in our advocacy and activism efforts to engage a new generation of supporters. It’s a privilege to be a part of this.
