Submission to the Inquiry into the value of skilled migration to Australia

6 February 2026

The Assistant Minister for Immigration and Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Hon Matt Thistlethwaite MP,  asked the Joint Standing Committee on Migration to inquire into matters relating to Australia’s skilled migration program. The committee adopted the inquiry on 29 October 2025.  Submissions to the inquiry were sent on 05/01/2026.

SPA’s submission argues that Australia’s needs would be better served by a much smaller and better targeted immigration program.   The submission may be read in full HERE.   The submission refers to SPA’s  ‘Six Great Immigration Solutions’  briefing note which can be read in full HERE.

All submissions received may be accessed from the Parliament of Australia website  HERE.
