At its AGM this afternoon, former South Australian state MP, Hon. Sandra Kanck, will take on the position of national president of Sustainable Population Australia (SPA).

Ms Kanck says she is taking on the position at a time when more people are understanding that most of the environmental problems the world now faces are a result of unsustainable levels of population.

“The crises of climate change and associated water shortages, and other major problems peak oil and environmental degradation are all a consequence of human overpopulation and overuse of resources.

“Australia, as one of the world’s largest exploiters of natural resources, is a significant contributor to these problems.

“We owe it to future generations to live sustainably now, and limiting population growth is the most responsible action we can all take” said Ms Kanck.
