Brian Cunningham, writing for SA’s The Advertiser on the 17th of February, ignores the environmental reality of population growth. He argues that increasing population growth increases wealth by expanding the economy, providing a bigger local market and increasing the skills base. Bob Couch, of Marino, reminds hims of this in his Letter to the Editor. Bob argues that Mr Cunningham’s views are outmoded, and that higher populations require more water, more power, clog the roads and increase the area of agricultural land covered by housing.
